SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Functions as a psycho educational consultant to all students through consultation counseling, assessment, staff development and program development/evaluation activities

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Acts as a psycho-educational consultant to teachers and other school personnel in developing preventive and early intervention strategies.
  2. Consults with general and exceptional teachers about the effects of various teaching techniques and methods of classroom instruction.
  3. Confers with teachers and parents about the childrsquo;s learning abilities, achievement levels, social/emotional development and learning needs.
  4. Provides assistance to students who need group or individual counseling.
  5. Provides crisis intervention services to students and school personnel upon request.
  6. Administers, accurately scores, interprets individual assessments and provided, within specified timelines, reports of obtained results in a manner consistent with professional standards and state/district policies.
  7. Co-chairs ARC meeting as needed.
  8. Organizes and conducts staff development activities for school personnel.
  9. Leads in parent education or training groups.
  10. Participates in the implementation of research and evaluation projects to benefit the district.
  11. Assists with testing for special education programs.
  12. Assists with early childhood assessments and intervention.
  13. Assists in beginning programs for students who are found to be ldquo;at riskrdquo; and provides for parent training as needed.
  14. Aids in the construction and selection of evaluation procedures and instruments and assists in the development evaluation of programs, materials and educational strategies for the district.
  15. Interprets the school psychologist role to the community.
  16. Works to implement the programs and activities of KERA in the school and community.
  17. Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as outlined at the school/district.
  18. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  19. Adheres to the professional code of ethics
  20. Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function
  21. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal or superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Kentucky certificate, license, or other legal credential required
  2. Experience and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
